Position Summary

The Accounts Payable Specialist performs a variety of routine and some non-routine clerical/accounting functions in accordance with standard procedures.

Principal Accountabilities

• Assign General Ledger account codes to all invoices, expense reports and check requests to be entered into MAS90 accounting software
• Ensure all invoices have received the necessary approval prior to payment
• Review all invoices for accuracy, and strive to identify cost saving opportunities
• Process denials of claims that do not meet hospice reimbursement requirements
• Verify Medicare allowable rates and contracted hospital rates for all claims
• Audit statements received from vendors to check for any past due invoices
• Provide expense accruals for month-end closing
• Collaborate with vendors and Compassus locations in the field regarding accounts payable issues

Qualifications  

• Self-motivated and detail-oriented
• Mathematical and reasoning skills
• Understanding and experience with Accounts Payable and General Ledger functions
• Experience with MAS90 is preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or General Education Degree with one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in accounting information systems strongly preferred.
