Security Reference Business Analyst

This is a Full-time position in Nashville, TN posted August 20, 2021.

We are seeking a Nashville based Business Analyst to join our Security Reference Data team, which is part of the Investment Management Operations – Portfolio Services department.

They will be responsible for working in a collaborative environment to support our security reference data infrastructure, improve workflow, automate security setup and maintenance, and work with the business to solve business issues.

This will involved working closely with our operations team and the technology team that supports SRM.

Our Security Reference Master Data team is responsible for the daily management of our core reference data (security, issuer, counterparty, etc) for usage across the firm.

We have a custom application that supports the needs for industry standard as well as custom data needs.

Our team includes some built in Business Analysts that work very closely with the SRM Data team and liaise with our AB technology teams to support our client base.

This team works on continuous improvement of the process and the focus will be on workflow and optimization of that process.

This team also works with new asset classes and works with other teams to correctly represent these assets on our systems, but also looks at new and changing needs for data on existing securities Describe the role: To become a Business Analyst on our global Security Reference Master (SRM) Data platform.

The individual will be expected to analyze data needs of the firm (our key clients), the data availability from our data providers, and the workflows within and to our internal clients.

Describe the applications and business or enterprise functions the role supports: Our SRM team supports the security reference and issuer data needs for the entire firm.

We support Trading, Client Guideline Management, Portfolio Managers, Assistant Portfolio Managers, Trade Support, Legal and Compliance, Sales, and Risk.

This role will focus on the modernization and further automation to meet our business needs.

This function will be working with the above groups, our SRM Business team and heavily with our Technology teams on the development and implementation of our SRM system.

The key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Be comfortable working in a highly collaborative and agile development environment.* Develop and document Business Requirements from both experience and through interviews of key users.* Analyze data needs and sourcing strategy for these data points.* Work with SRM team and our internal clients to understand how they use the data and minimize (or highly automate) custom data needs.* Work with IT to develop Project Specifications that satisfy Business Requirements.* Work with Ops (SRM) staff to train and test products or processes.* Develop and execute documented test plans.* Communicate and report progress and deliverables to manager as well as Senior Management* Work with other ops teams to satisfy requirements relating to project.* Help develop documentation for new processes and procedures.

This role is a very unique role that is critical to a multi year project on Security Reference Master.

The opportunity exists to work across all asset classes managed and traded by AB.

As we continue to increase our exposure and the industry moves more to the alternatives space, a continually growing part of our role is to facilitate these private, alternative, and non standard assets within our systems.

Helping to define how we represent them to our internal and external clients is a significant challenge and provides opportunities to rethink how we handle this data.

This team will be at the forefront of that effort.

Additionally, on a day to day basis, they will interact with other teams in operations

At the end of this project, there are several career paths that may be available depending on performance – most significantly into operations in the security reference or related spaces, or as a Business Analyst in Global Operations or continue on in the current role.

Job Qualifications (The ideal candidate should have the following): Qualifications, Experience, Education: * Bachelor’s degree in Business, CIPM/CFA (or candidate) a Plus.* Prefer 2+ years of work experience in valuations or related financial services.* The ideal candidate should have a degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or another relevant discipline.* Familiarity with Fixed Income Instruments or Derivatives is a plus Skills: * Strong Microsoft Office Skills* General knowledge of multiple asset classes and how they can be used in portfolios* Strong organizational and interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communication skills.* Needs excellent attention to detail and a high degree of professionalism* Must be highly organized and often working to tight deadlines.* Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities* Willingness to work towards solutions; internally motivated* Team attitude – recognize contributions of peers and enjoy interacting with others in various locations globally – all with a focus on providing high customer satisfaction.

Desired but not required skills: * Knowledge and experience in operations but specifically in Indicative Data, Pricing, and/or Corporate actions.* Knowledge of vendors and types of data provided.* Knowledge of Security Master data and to a lesser extent Account and other Non-Financial Data Special Knowledge: Our analysts typically have track records of outstanding professional performance or academic achievement, along with excellent analytical skills, financial skills, technical skills, attentions to detail and as well as strong communication skills.

Candidates should have a strong ability to work in a collaborative environment and to present results to both expert and non-expert audiences.
